The White Desert (Al Sahara El Byeda )
The White Desert is often dubbed by the people of the desert as “ El Gedida” or “The New” to describe the bright and shining nature of the desert rocks that makes it appear brand new.
The desert contains great chunks of white rock that have been carved by wind into surreal, organic shapes. The white color of the rocks comes from it’s chalk base.
The White Desert is so called because of many rock formations that look like mushrooms. Over thousands of years, these rock formations have developed due to strong sandstorms and winds swirling from all directions, the stronger winds striking the lower parts of the rock to ultimately from the shape of divine desert mushrooms.
